Serial and Console management
Securely access and manage network assets and IT assets from anywhere, anytime
Advanced Console Server (ACS)
Why Console Management?
Console Servers connect to virtually all equipment in the data center. Serial console ports can be used not only for local management but also for convenient, secure and reliable remote network management
Avocent console management solutions provide an easy and secure way to manage serial console devices including servers, network gear, telco and power distribution units, through local or remote IP connections.
With secure in-band and out-of-band connectivity, these solutions offer quick access to critical devices whether the network is up or down. Console servers also support industry-standard Telnet and SSH clients.
The Cyclades ACS console server provides both in-band and out-of-band remote access to connected serial devices. In-band access is available through single or dual Ethernet ports, which support up to 1 Gbit/second transmission speeds and secure Telnet and SSH access to serial devices. A PC card slot (16- or 32-bit) supplies wireless remote access. Out-of-band access is available through either a built-in modem or a customer-supplied V.92 or ISDN modem.
The ACS console server easily configures and manages large data centers using a browser-based interface. Tight integration with Avocent MergePoint Access software provides an effective method to confi gure and manage servers using a consistent, simple interface (see Figure 5). The ACS console server also integrates power management from a single interface for any third-party power supply vendor.
